the centre

Following on from 'Escape', 'Lost in the Blackdown Hills' charts the journey of seven hardy explorers from the centre of the Blackdown Hills in Upottery (grid ref ST 20100,08900) on the Northern Escape route towards Taunton. With the route planned in advance by myself and artist/blackdown Guru Gordon Field all the information was loaded on to three hand held GPS receivers, which we gave to Liz, Brian, Manny, Dexter and Ken so they could lead the walk. Did we get lost?!

I was one of Simon's sacrificial lambs on this day. When he picked me up from home at 4:40, I remember asking myself how I had managed to get myself into this situation, knowing full well that Simon had only suggested it to me after about the 4th pint at the pub some days before. I believe I am not the only one he has used this persuasive technique on. However, I had a thoroughly enjoyable day, met some interesting people along the way, and we all ended up in the pub in time for lunch as planned. I'll post some photos soon...
